Baltic Herring -lyhytelokuvakilpailu on Itämeren rantavaltioiden asukkaille tarkoitettu kilpailu, joka järjestetään tänä vuonna 31. kerran. Kilpailussa on kolme sarjaa, amatöörit, av-koulujen opiskelijat ja ammattilaiset. Kaikki kilpailevat paitsi omasta sarjojensa Silakka-Oscareista myös Golden Baltic Herring -pystistä.
Määräaikaan mennessä ilmoittautumisia saapui 134, joista kilpailuun hyväksyttiin 126 elokuvaa kahdeksasta eri Itämeren maasta.

Baltic Herring Short Film Competition 2025
Baltic Sea filmmakers are on the move again – the 31st edition of the Baltic Herring competition received 134 entries, of which 126 films from eight countries were accepted!
The competition has three categories: amateur, student and professional – all aiming for the Golden Baltic Herring grand prize.
Finland (56), Germany (30) and Poland (12) were the countries with the most entries.There are also some familiar names in the competition. Among the Finnish talents are Maarit Lalli and Fabian Munsterhjelm. From abroad, a couple of big names in animation filmmaking such as Ülo Pikkov and Rao Heidmets are involved.
The films will be screened in Iso-Hannu on Thu 21 Aug and Fri 22 Aug.
The winners will be awarded with sculptures by Kirsi Backman on Sat 23 Aug. The public will also be able to vote for their favourites.
